Paganism is one of the fastest‑growing spiritual traditions, yet meaningful data about our communities remains woefully scarce. The Pagan Visibility Project, hosted and support by Open Coven exists to change that.

We are underrepresented, dispersed, and often misunderstood — conditions that contribute to prejudice and exclusion. Pagans are routinely overlooked in spaces where we should be present: academia, interfaith work, policy discussions, and social research. When studies do exist, they tend to repeat the same narrow questions and rarely treat us as living, breathing people with diverse identities and experiences.

What ethnicities are we? What countries do we come from? How many of us face discrimination because of our spirituality? These are basic questions, and yet we have almost no reliable data to answer them.

Representation matters. Visibility matters. Through both, we can ensure Pagan voices are heard and build advocacy at a time when so many of our liberties are under attack.

Who runs the PVP?

It’s run by me, Liz Watkin. I am an active and open Pagan as well as a social research professional.

What will be done with my survey answers?

The answers will be collated, analyzed and published on a regular basis. From there we will write reports and articles as well as identify potential areas of advocacy.

Is the survey anonymous?

Yes it is entirely anonymous. 

Why is PVP important?

Underrepresentation leads to discrimination and exclusion. We want that to change. We want Pagans to have a voice and to feel validated.

How is Open Coven involved?

Open Coven is hosting the PVP by providing an online space and using its resources built over time to further the project mission. Open Coven’s shop will remain open, selling items that will fund the project until it I can apply for grants and other funding streams.
